Ex Libris

Ex Libris are a vendor of library management systems. Owned by Proquest.

libtics

  1. The involuntary nervous twitch you get when attempting some library analytics. Experience notwithstanding.

  2. Portmanteau of Library and Analytics, hence the name of the website providing this material. Probably the best of the available conflations.

MMS

Metadata Management System. What Ex Libris use within Alma to manage metadata. Usually exposed via the heavily used "MMS Id" used to uniquely identify a record.

OBIEE

Oracle Business Intelligence, Enterprise Edition. A data warehousing and analytics platform from Oracle Corp. This is used by Ex Libris to provide the analytics capability for its library management products.
